Corn & Soybean n°2/2016: USDA raises US ending stocks and Russia set to ban US imports

The monthly report of December 2015 released by the United States Department of Agriculture (World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates Report – WASDE) shows for the season 2015-16 the estimates of a increasing global production both for Corn (970.08 Mio t, +2.15 Mio t from December estimates) and Soybean (320.51 Mio t, +1.5 Mio).

In Argentina Corn production is projected at 27 Mio t, +1.4 Mio t, on higher area, and Soybean production is projected at 58.50 Mio t, +1.5 on a higher yield projection.

US Corn and Soybean production is unchanged from last month while ending stocks are projected higher. Russia will suspend the importation of Corn and Soybeans from the US as of February 15 for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance.

In China Corn feed use is expected to increase by 2 Mio t (152 Mio t) as relative internal market prices are expected to support greater corn feeding at the expense of wheat.
