EU-28: Butter exports track record level in April 2016

EU-28 exports in April 2016 compared to April 2015 increased in volumes for:

  • Butter (+52.5%)
  • Milk and cream (+51.7%)
  • Infant milk formula (+17.3%)
  • Cheese (+13.3%)
  • WMP (+12.3%)
  • Whey Powder (+5.1%)

decreased for:

  • SMP (-26.7%)

The main regions importing European dairy products (cheese, milk powders, butter, condensed milk, liquid milk, cream and yogurt) were:

  • Africa import, accounting for 24% of market share, decreased by 13.9%
  • Asia – South East import, accounting for 30% of market share, increased by 14.7%
  • Asia – Middle East import, accounting for 20% of market share, increased by 12.3%
  • North America import, accounting for 6% of market share, increased by 5.5%
  • Europe (Others – extra EU) import, accounting for 7% of market share, increased by 8.9%

The main Importers of Butter in the first 4 months of 2016 (year over year) were:

  • China import, accounting for 13% of market share, increased by 346.6%
  • Saudi Arabia import, accounting for 11% of market share, increased by 17.1%
  • Egypt import, accounting for 11% of market share, increased by 34.8%
  • United States import, accounting for 6% of market share, increased by 24.4%
  • Morocco import, accounting for 5% of market share, increased by 122.5%
  • Japan import, accounting for 4% of market share, increased by 144%
  • Canada import, accounting for 4% of market share, increased by 2054%
  • Turkey import, accounting for 3% of market share, increased by 83.4%
