Italy: record of Gorgonzola exports

Italy exports in October 2015 compared to October 2014 increased in volumes for Cheese (+6.5%) while decreased for Butter (-8.2%), Whey Powder (-11.7%).

Export of main cheese in October 2015 compared to October 2014 increased in volumes for Grated or powered cheeses (+16.6%), Gorgonzola (+14.0%), Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano (+10.5%), Provolone (+6.6%), Asiago, Montasio, Ragusano, Caciocavallo (+5.9%) while decreased for Pecorino and Fiore Sardo (-30.0%).

The main importers in the first 10 months of 2015 (year over year) were:

For Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano:

  • Germany import – accounting for 21% of market share – increased by 0.7%
  • USA import – accounting for 16% of market share – increased by 27.7%

For Grated or powered cheeses:

  • France import – accounting for 29% of market share – increased by 6.6%
  • Germany import – accounting for 28% of market share – increased by 53.2%

For Pecorino and Fiore Sardo:

  • USA import – accounting for 63% of market share – increased by 9.3%
  • Germany import – accounting for 8% of market share – decreased by 0.9%

For Gorgonzola:

  • Germany import – accounting for 22% of market share – increased by 7%
  • France import – accounting for 21% of market share – increased by 4.5%
