Corn and Soybean n°8/2016: U.S. record yield

The monthly report of August 2016 released by the United States Department of Agriculture (World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates Report – WASDE) shows for the season 2016-17 the estimates of increasing global production for Corn (1028 Mio t) and for Soybean (330 Mio t).

Higher U.S. Corn and Soybean production reflect the increased yields.

The Corn yield is forecast at 175.1 bushels per acre.

The Soybean yield is forecast at 48.9 bushels per acre.

U.S. imports are raised as the pace of Organic Corn imports through June has been above expectations.

Corn area is raised in Argentina on an expected reduction in planted area for wheat and small grains. For India, Corn area is increased as favorable rainfall has boosted plantings to date. Abundant summer rainfall in Mexico boosts Corn yield prospects.
