Italian exports of milk and cream increased by +131% in May 2016

In May Italy exported 9.239 tons of milk and cream: +131% if compared to May 2016. Over Jan-May 2016 period, the increase was +28.5% driven by packaged milk, whose export raised by +262% in comparison with the previous year.
The main importer of milk and cream is Lybia, followed by South Korea, which has been purchasing significant volumes of cream since January.

Also the Italian cheese exports continue to grow: they increased by +18.5% in May and by +9.5% over Jan-May 2016 period, in comparison with the previous year.

Italy exports in May 2016 compared to May 2015 increased in volumes for

  • Milk and cream (+131.2%)
  • Cheese (+18.5%)

decreased for

  • Whey Powder (-23.5%)

Export of main cheese in May 2016 compared to May 2015 increased in volumes for Grated or powered cheeses (+40.6%), Pecorino and Fiore Sardo (+38.5%), Gorgonzola (+22.1%), Fresh cheeses incl. mozzarella, cheese and ricotta (+16.9%), Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano (+12.7%), Provolone (+6.5%) while decreased for Asiago, Montasio, Ragusano, Caciocavallo (-2.1%).
