Italy: positive commercial dairy balance in 2015 (Jan-Dec)

2015 (Jan-Dec) trade balance is as follows:

  • The value of exports increased by 2.9% (+73 Mio €)
  • The value of imports decreased by 13.8% (-492 Mio €)

As for the volumes, Italy in 2015 presents the following overview:

  • the Italian milk deliveries increased by 1.05% (+115.500 Tons)
  • Italian imports of cheese, milk powders, butter, condensed milk and liquid milk, converted into “milk equivalent”, increased by 3.30% (+185.000 Tons)
  • Italian export of cheese, milk powders, butter, condensed milk and liquid milk, converted “milk equivalent”, increased by 11.93% (+369.000 Tons)

Export of main cheese in December 2015 compared to December 2014 increased in volumes for

  • Grated or powered cheeses (+26.1%)
  • Fresh cheeses incl. mozzarella, cheese and ricotta (+12.0%)
  • Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano (+9.2%)
  • Provolone (+4.9%)
  • Gorgonzola (+3.9%)

while decreased for

  • Asiago, Montasio, Ragusano, Caciocavallo (-6.1%)
  • Pecorino and Fiore Sardo (-7.7%)
