In Australia there is a limited amount of hay available and many Producers are concerned that obtaining good quality hay will be difficult as the season progresses.
Even with relatively low early milk season volumes, in New Zealand dairy manufacturing is moving up pretty quickly. More new season manufactured dairy products are reaching markets earlier than some buyers had expected.

The prices of dairy products are increasing, with the exception of Butter.
Butter production is increasing noticeably and there seems to be less pressure to wrap up negotiations.
Near term demand for Cheddar helps firm prices. Manufacturing is increasing, but still seasonally low, and filling domestic needs is currently the focus.
Also demand for WMP production is very good. Even if buyers know that current availability is much lower than in coming months, they need quick deliveries, moving near term prices up.
SMP production is limited, however Buyers understand that week to week there may be some variation on output volumes.
