EU-28 cheese exports to Japan and South Korea are growing

EU-28 is the main cheese exporter in the world.

In the first two months of 2017 the EU-28 cheese exports rose by 7.7% in volume and 10.2% in value (+55 million euro) compared to the same period of 2016.

Japan and South Korea are the second largest importers of European cheese after the United States, and they increased their imports by 44% and 39%

The main Importers of Cheese in the first 2 months of 2017 (year over year) were:

• United States import, accounting for 16% of market share, decreased by 5.6%
• Japan import, accounting for 12% of market share, increased by 44.4%
• Korea, South import, accounting for 7% of market share, increased by 39.3%
• Switzerland import, accounting for 7% of market share, increased by 4.7%
• Saudi Arabia import, accounting for 5% of market share, decreased by 12.4%
